Additives

We have listed several of our concrete additives as well as given an explaination of why they maybe added to your load of concrete. (This would of course be upon your request to do so.) Additional charges apply with the use of some of these products.

Our ready mix concrete additives include but are not limited to:

As you will see the reasons additives are used are many. The ready mix concrete industry has been extremely fortunate that since concrete was originally created, more and more advances have been made to insure its quality and durablity.

Air entrained:

Liquid air admixture is added to concrete. This admixture provides freeze-thaw resistance as well as increased finishablity. By using this product, bleeding and plastic shrinkage are minimal.

WATER REDUCERS

This is in most mix designs to help with reducing permeability, shrinkage and cracking, increases concrete durability.

Retarder:

Is a chemical that slows the hydration of Tricalium Silicate. This increases the workability time as well as slows down the set time for the concrete.

Fiber Mesh:

Fiber mesh is available as Cellulose, Polypropylene and Synthetic Macro Fibers and are used to help prevent shrinkage and temperature cracking. There are also structural type fibers available per special orders.

Accelerators

Calcium Chloride- a product sold by % from plant or bags onsite. Is the most cost-effective way to speed the set of concrete with two properties that can be unlikeable. It can darken the color of cured concrete, and is corrosive to metal reinforcement.

NCA- [Non-Corrosive Accelerator] Also sold by % but only available at plant when loading. This is a non-chloride non-corrosive set and strength accelerating admixture. This means that it increases the concrete hydration which allows for shorter setting times. This also increases early strengths for concrete and helps to protect the concrete from freezing during the first few hours after placement. Does not change color of concrete when used.

Intergrated sealer

Kendall County Concrete now has Sealer in the mix!

Now we can add sealer into the mix, in your next pour.

This is not a top application, it is an integrated sealer added to the mix automatically dosed by the batch plant so the sealer is mixed throughout the entire load of concrete.

Sealer Benefits:

  • Water repellency throughout load
  •  Efflorescence reducer and improves appearance, uniformity, and color vibrancy
  •  Reduces water absorption and chloride penetration
  •  Saves Time, Material, and Money.
